Behind The Price
Where this guidance comes from.
Completed jobs reviewed
We reviewed the charged work in completed Housecall Pro jobs, not just job titles. These are selected examples, not a company-wide average. Planning ranges round outward around the reviewed scopes. Recorded discounts and undiscounted service charges help show the budget spread; a past discount is not a current offer. Unrelated work, unselected options and gratuities are excluded. Your written proposal confirms your equipment, work and price. Fourteen treatment records were inspected; one had conflicting installation-status notes and was excluded, leaving 13 usable jobs across installation and repair. The company-supplied planning band covers a $1,500 standalone carbon-filter invoice through a $9,000 combined filtration/softener charge before its $900 discount. The 13-job service review includes smaller subgroups, not 13 of every system.
Scope: Planning range for the reviewed Farrell-supplied carbon filters, softeners and combined systems. These treat different water concerns and are not interchangeable. Installation of equipment you already own and repair of existing equipment are priced separately below.

Who supplies the equipment?
Compare the same work. Installing a unit you already own and providing a new unit with the installation cover different costs.

Different work. Different price.
Farrell-supplied 32,000–48,000 grain softener
$2,178.12–$3,187.50
Three clean completed invoice examples, including recorded discounts. Other jobs added sediment or carbon filtration, piping repairs or relocation.
Farrell-supplied softener with filtration
$4,930–$8,100
Two completed invoice examples for different combinations: a softener/carbon package and a HALO5-plus-softener package. The higher system was $9,000 before its $900 discount.
Farrell-supplied standalone carbon filter
$1,500 example
One completed standalone invoice. Cheaper carbon lines inside larger bundled projects are not standalone installation quotes.
Customer-supplied softener installation
$535.50–$895
Two completed invoice examples. Equipment is yours; one invoice included a discount, and piping/drain routing differed.
Customer-supplied under-sink reverse osmosis
$541 example
One completed installation invoice. You provide the system, faucet, tank and required components. Extensive modifications were excluded.
Softener control-valve rebuild
$562.50 example
One completed repair invoice after a $62.50 discount on a $625 service line. This repairs existing equipment; it is not a new softener.

Compare the full scope
Reviewed jobs sometimes combined equipment with failed-resin cleanup, piping work, fixtures or several filters. We separate those items so a whole-job total is not mistaken for one system.
What changes the price at your property?
- Whether you need hardness reduction, carbon filtration, drinking-water treatment, or a combination.
- Household demand, equipment capacity, and the chosen brand or model.
- Existing plumbing, drain access, power, outdoor protection, and system location.
- Equipment supplied by Farrell versus equipment you already own.
What the work covers.
- The equipment and installation scope stated in the selected treatment package.
- A discussion of what the selected system treats and its ongoing maintenance.
What may be separate.
- Repiping, relocation, electrical work, and added connections outside the named package.
- Salt, replacement filters, and future maintenance unless included in a separate agreement.
- A promise to remove every contaminant; treatment depends on the selected equipment and test results.
Before you approve the work.
Make sure your written proposal explains the diagnosis, the work included, any separate items, and the total price. If something is unclear, ask. We want you to understand your options before you decide.
